The Olowalu Petroglyphs is one of the easily accessible petroglyph sites on Maui. (west Maui, Honoapiilani Highway south of Lahaina). Ask directions to petroglyphs at the General Store. You need to walk about a mile walk back on a long dirt trail into the fields, to see ancient rock carvings along a basalt cliff. I enjoyed contrast the this ancient site. It reminded me of how old the islands and the Hawaiian culture. Also known as Pu'u Kilea in the Hawaiian language.
