The proper story of the Pali in Oahu has warriors being chased up to the edge and jumping to their death. Grusome as that is there are many more creepy stories about Morgan’s Corner in Nu’uanu Valley.
The hairpin curve on the old Nu’uanu Pali Road became famous in 1948 when a local widow was brutally murdered by two escaped felons, Morgan and Palakiko. The murder shocked the local, quiet community at the time it happened. The felons were out to rob a house and they found Therese Wilder cooking alone. Being very hungry, they decided to murder her and eat the food. Wilder’s body was later found bound and gagged by her landscaper. After intense investigation, the felons confessed to her murder. Locals claim that the spirits of Therese Wilder and the two prisoners, haunt the area of Morgan’s Corner.
Morgan's corner is crowded area for ghosts. There is another story of a young woman who killed herself by hanging. Her partially decomposed body was found at Morgan’s Corner with her head in the noose but her body pulled off by her own weight. Locals say that her head was never attached for burial and her spirit wanders through Nu’uanu Valley looking for her missing head.
The last ghost story from Morgan's Corner involves young lovers who drove up to Morgan’s Corner and parked under a tree. When it came time to leave the car wouldn't to start. The young man told his girlfriend to remain in the car and he walked out for help. Time passed and the girl fell asleep listening to the sound of rustling tree branches along the roof of the car.
Morning came and the young woman was awakened by local police. He was very firm and told her to get into his car and don't look around, just get in. Like everybody told not to look, she did and as she turned she saw a horrific scene. Her dead lover's mutilated inverted body hanging from the tree which they parked under. What she thought was the sound of rustling branches were his fingers scratching the vehicle.
Many strange reports continue to come out of Morgan’s Corner and locals not to stop, especially at night.
